3D Portal presents DukeED.com, a site focused on editing for the next installment in the Duke Nukem game series from 3D Realms, Duke Nukem Forever. This site is here to provide you with everything you need to know to get you editing for DNF. The latest editing news, tutorials on numerous aspects of editing, and much more is offered for you here.

DNF will be based on the Unreal engine and will come with an editor called DukeED, which will be a modified version of UnrealED (the editor for Unreal).  Like with UnrealED, you will be able to edit all the aspects of the game from the all-purpose editor.  Since DNF uses the Unreal engine, learning UnrealED now will in turn prepare you for editing DNF.  It has also been confirmed that Unreal maps WILL convert to DNF, so things you create now will be useable once the new game is released.  It isn't simple, but not too hard to learn, so start editing today or you will be left behind when DNF is released!

For more info, see the Site Overview below.

There has been a lot of activity in the forum recently, be sure to stop by the forums if you want to talk with others about editing, get help with a problem, or help others.

Questions
Q: What does this Unreal crap have to do with Duke?

A: Like you should have already read, the next Duke Nukem game, Duke Nukem Forever, will be using the Unreal game engine. Rather than spend years and months programming a whole new engine, developers like 3D Realms have licensed a game engine from another company to save time. The Unreal engine has just what 3D Realms wants for Duke Nukem Forever, and that's what they are using to create the game. For more information about Unreal, visit Epic's official Unreal website. You must have the full version of Unreal to use UnrealED.

More Information
Visit Dukeworld's official DNF FAQ for all of the info known now about DNF.

The reason to start editing now is because 3D editing takes lots of time and is very complex. If you learn how to use UnrealED now, you will be able to use DukeED in the future when DNF is released. Your maps will also be convertible into DukeED. Duke Nukem 3D is still popular today due to all of the maps, addons, total conversions, etc. created by thousands of users online. To help ensure that DNF will have similar success, fire up UnrealED and get ready today!

Final Notes
Once DNF is released, this site will cover 100% DNF editing and will offer updated tutorials likewise. Be sure to bookmark us and come back later if you are not currently interested!
